Our Programs

Miss Dixie’s Kitten Rescue is comprised of a network of foster homes dedicated to the health and wellbeing of every kitten in our care. Our foster homes are equipped with basic necessities, such as dewormers, heating pads, blankets, food, kitten formula, bottle feeding supplies and more. Each foster is paired with kittens who are best suited for their home and schedule. All medical care and supplies are covered by Miss Dixie’s Foster Program.

• Kittens do not magically appear out of nowhere. Every kitten has a story, and that story generally leads us to a colony of cats. Most kittens are born to community or feral cats who have lived their entire lives outside and are wary of human interaction. Studies have shown that the best and most effective way to reduce the number of orphaned, sick and neonatal kittens entering rescues and shelters is through Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) programs. 
• In 2022, Miss Dixie’s launched our own TNR program focused on returning to the colonies where our kittens were found, and preventing future kittens from suffering. TNR is truly a win-win situation. The feral/community cats get to live their best life outside without the threat and danger reproduction brings, and suffering of future animals is prevented simply through TNR.
