FAQ - READ ME FIRST
If you’re ready to adopt a Miss Dixie’s kitten, here’s your chance to see if you could be their match.
Please thoroughly read the following information about adopting a Miss Dixie’s kitten before applying.
- Our adoption screening and processing can be broken down into three main steps: the application, the interview, and the meet & greet.
- The application portion is fairly straightforward. Please be as open, honest and thorough as possible. Our main objective for the application is to get a good general sense of your home, what your current resident animals are like, and additional pertinent information (like current veterinarian).
- After you have submitted an application, a member of our team should reach out within 24 hours regarding your application status.
- Next is the interview portion. If your home is deemed a potential match for our kitties, you will be sent a link to schedule your interview/virtual home check! All interviews are conducted with Zoom or FaceTime and are a required step to complete an adoption application.
- Finally, when your application is approved, we will reach out to schedule your meet & greet/adoption day!
- *Our adoption process is not a same-day ordeal. Most applications take a minimum of a week to move from application submission to finalizing adoption details. We take our time to ensure every kitty is placed in the home best suited for them.
- *Kitties are not placed in homes on a first-come-first-serve basis. Priority is given to earliest applications as long as the home is a good match for the kitten or cat. We choose the best home, not the first home!
- *We reserve the right to deny any applicant for any reason.
- *All applicants must live within an 8hr drive of Seneca, SC to be considered for adoption (except in regards to specific cases where drive radius has been extended).
All Miss Dixie’s kittens come with health records, are dewormed, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.
Please note that due to the high volume of inquiries about each kitten, you may not receive a response. We encourage you to also check out the adoptable cats and kittens at your local animal shelter.
Meet Piccolo
Meet Piccolo, our petite princess!
Looking at this girl, it's easy to get caught up in her beauty. She is one of the most adorable siamese girlies who have probably ever graced this earth. But on top of that, she has the personality to match!
Piccolo is a loving, gentle but extremely playful gal. Once she is comfortable, there isn't a spot in the house she won't explore. During her explorations and play excursions, you might hear her chirp, chirp, chirping around. We believe it is her take on echo-location and that is how she is able to navigate the world so flawlessly. She loves a good lap-nap, playing with her sister and being the center of attention. She loves to be held and doted on, and is truly just a wonderful little miss.
Piccolo was born with a congenital hypothyroid, which means her body cannot make its own thyroid for whatever reason. Without thyroid, her growth was greatly impacted. She is incredibly small for her age (and that might never change), mostly deaf and partially blind. You would think all these factors would negatively impact little Piccolo, but she is just the happiest girl ever. The good new is hypothyroidism can be easily managed through biannual bloodwork and daily thyroid medication. And, thanks to her foster mom, Piccolo will gladly take any pill if it comes with a side dish of churu.
Because of her disabilities, Piccolo really clings to her foster sister, Astra as a source of comfort. Astra and her are the best of friends, and we are looking for a home where they can be together...forever!
Piccolo and Astra's ideal home will not have any dogs or young children. They would do best in a home that is calm with parents who are familiar with and committed to prioritizing her health and well-being throughout her life.
We are looking for a home local to Seneca/Central/Clemson area. Piccolo is not yet spayed, and until she is, we will cover her medical costs and help her new family navigate her extra needs.
