FAQ - READ ME FIRST
If you’re ready to adopt a Miss Dixie’s kitten, here’s your chance to see if you could be their match.
Please thoroughly read the following information about adopting a Miss Dixie’s kitten before applying.
- Our adoption screening and processing can be broken down into three main steps: the application, the interview, and the meet & greet.
- The application portion is fairly straightforward. Please be as open, honest and thorough as possible. Our main objective for the application is to get a good general sense of your home, what your current resident animals are like, and additional pertinent information (like current veterinarian).
- After you have submitted an application, a member of our team should reach out within 24 hours regarding your application status.
- Next is the interview portion. If your home is deemed a potential match for our kitties, you will be sent a link to schedule your interview/virtual home check! All interviews are conducted with Zoom or FaceTime and are a required step to complete an adoption application.
- Finally, when your application is approved, we will reach out to schedule your meet & greet/adoption day!
- *Our adoption process is not a same-day ordeal. Most applications take a minimum of a week to move from application submission to finalizing adoption details. We take our time to ensure every kitty is placed in the home best suited for them.
- *Kitties are not placed in homes on a first-come-first-serve basis. Priority is given to earliest applications as long as the home is a good match for the kitten or cat. We choose the best home, not the first home!
- *We reserve the right to deny any applicant for any reason.
- *All applicants must live within an 8hr drive of Seneca, SC to be considered for adoption (except in regards to specific cases where drive radius has been extended).
All Miss Dixie’s kittens come with health records, are dewormed, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.
Please note that due to the high volume of inquiries about each kitten, you may not receive a response. We encourage you to also check out the adoptable cats and kittens at your local animal shelter.
Meet Montana
Meet Hannah & Montana, two of the rowdiest boys around!
Montana (long hair boy) came to us incredibly malnourished. It appeared like the poor guy hadn't eaten for weeks, and was so skinny that his body was failing. Thankfully after some quick intervention, he perked up and started his road to recovery.
The next day we were informed there was another kitten who , thankfully, didn't appear as pitiful. Enter Hannah! These boys have made a full recovery and are looking for their forever home, together!
Montana is the most confident of the two. He will walk up to new people, purr and flap his little tail for pets. He loves to cuddle and will hop up onto your lap any chance he gets. His worst fear is having two open laps on the couch as he will not be able to choose and will go back and forth between them until he eventually falls asleep from pure exhaustion. He is very playful. Watching him bounce around is the most adorable thing as he looks like a fluffy little potato just hopping around.
Hannah is a little more shy and will take a little time to warm up. He is incredibly sweet once he does, but his new family will need to give him the time he needs to adjust. Once he's comfy, he is just (if not more) as playful as Montana, and you will always catch them wrestling, running and cuddling together whenever possible.
We are looking for a home open to adopting both boys, together! They are great with cats, would do good with a dog-friendly cat and would love a home with older children (10+).
*Miss Dixie's does not adopt solo kittens into homes without another cat already established in the home. Typically Miss Dixie's kittens are adopted in pairs.
*All kittens are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped and spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
